About Me

Hi! I’m Lexie, your backstage bookworm.

For as long as I can remember, I have been addicted to books.  It all started when I was little, and my mother would read me to sleep.  Instead of the picture books other children my age were reading, she would read me chapter books.  We would only read a chapter or two each day, so by the next night I was aching to find out what was going to happen next.  Needless to say, I was hooked.  My mother is a very smart lady.  Not only did she make my little self excited to go to bed every night, but she nurtured a passion for reading that has bloomed throughout my life.  Years later, I am an actress living in New York City, still devouring every book I can get my hands on.  I will never leave my apartment without a book (or two) in my bag.  I decided to start a book-blog because I love sharing my passion for reading with anyone who will listen (and I think my friends are tired of me talking their ears off about it).  When I am not onstage, I am most likely to be found reading in the wings.

What do I read?

I read a little bit of everything, but my blog is centered around YA.  In terms of genre, my favorites are fantasy, historical fiction, and romance, but I have been known to step out of my comfort zone a time or two.

What is my favorite book?

There are a lot of books that I absolutely adore, but none of them come anywhere close to my love for Harry Potter.  I have read the whole series five times, and counting.  It is the best medicine for my soul, and as JK Rowling says, “Hogwarts will always be there to welcome you home.”

Aside from Harry Potter, I’d have to say my all time favorite book is Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett.  Not a YA book, but a truly epic and incredible piece of historical fiction.

Who is my favorite author?

I have so many favorites, it would be impossible to pick one.  Consistent faves are Ken Follett, Meg Cabot, Kristin Hannah, Sarah J. Maas, and Kate Morton.

Review Policy:

All of the thoughts and reviews on this blog are my own, unbiased opinions.  I try to be as open and honest with reviewing as I can. I am willing to accept review submissions from authors and/or publishers.  If your book seems like something I will be interested in, I would love to add it to my ever-growing “To Be Read” pile. Please submit any requests to readinginthewings@gmail.com, and I will do my best to get back to you ASAP.

Ratings:

I follow the Goodreads rating system.

1 STAR: Did not like it.

2 STARS: It was Ok.

3 STARS: I liked it.

4 STARS: I really liked it.

5 STARS: It was amazing.

Book Hangover:

One of my favorite feelings in the world is when I finish a book and it leaves me feeling so full and happy for having experienced an amazing story, and yet excruciatingly empty for not being a part of that world anymore.  The only thing I can liken the feeling to is a hangover. Whenever I find a book that gives me this feeling, I will give it my Book Hangover Seal!

  1. Hi Lexie! Thanks for following my blog! I always love meeting fellow book-lovers, especially fellow lovers of the HP series 😀 Can’t wait to check out some of your own reviews and hopefully find a book or two to add to my own never-ending reading pile.
