Hi everyone! This year is a mess, plain and simple. One of the only things that has brought me solace is reading, and I am so glad that I have been able to escape into other worlds, because right now ours SUCKS. I have been doing The Mid Year Freak Out Tag every year and since I am frequently on the verge of freaking out lately, it feels like the right time to do it for 2020. I’m a little behind on my reading goals (which is annoying because I have no excuse), but I am hoping that I can get back on track with some good, quick reads soon.
THE BEST BOOK YOU’VE READ SO FAR IN 2020:

This series has given me so much life lately. The characters are fantastic, the setting is amazing, the story is gasp-worthy and dramatic and I am living for it.
YOUR FAVORITE SEQUEL SO FAR THIS YEAR:

Like I said, this series is everything.
A NEW RELEASE THAT YOU HAVEN’T READ YET BUT REALLY WANT TO:

I still cannot believe that I haven’t read this finale yet. I have been dying to know how it ends, but since I don’t own any of the other books, as I usually get them from the library, I can’t bring myself to purchase it. I’m going to get it on my kindle with a birthday gift card soon though!
MOST ANTICIPATED RELEASE FOR THE SECOND HALF OF THE YEAR:

It’s funny, because American Royals was my answer to this last year. I CANNOT wait for this sequel. I am obsessed with this story and Katharine McGee and September is too far away.
YOUR BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT:

I didn’t dislike this book by any means, but my excitement for it made it a let down for me. I wanted it so badly to be as good as The Selection, and it just wasn’t as enthralling.
BIGGEST SURPRISE OF THE YEAR:

Both of these books made me giddy and were some of my favorite reads of the year so far. Highly recommend.
FAVORITE NEW TO YOU OR DEBUT AUTHOR:
I gotta go with Santa Montefiore who wrote my favorite book this year so far. Her books have been around for a long time and I really have no clue how she escaped my radar for so long.
YOUR NEW FICTIONAL CRUSH:
AHHHHH. It pains me to say that I haven’t really found a major new fictional crush this year. I did really like Jack from Tweet Cute by Emma Lord though.
NEW FAVORITE CHARACTER:
Kitty Deverill from The Deverill Chronicles by Santa Montefiore.
A BOOK THAT MADE YOU CRY:

I was on the subway reading this and I started crying and I had to try to hold it together because I was in public.
A BOOK THAT MADE YOU HAPPY:

This was a re-read from my middle school days, but it brought me so much joy. It inspired a whole discussion post about re-reading old favorite books.
YOUR FAVORITE BOOK TO MOVIE ADAPTATION YOU’VE SEEN THIS YEAR:

I know this came out last year, but I finally watched it and I was blown away. This adaptation was absolutely stunning. Also, Amy has always been my favorite and Florence Pugh’s performance was perfection.
FAVORITE BLOG POST YOU’VE PUBLISHED THIS YEAR:
I really enjoyed writing my post about re-reading old favorite books. It was very therapeutic to talk through and brought me a lot of joy.
THE MOST BEAUTIFUL BOOK YOU’VE BOUGHT OR RECEIVED THIS YEAR:

I can’t get over the cover of this book. It is so beautiful *heart eyes*
WHAT ARE SOME OF THE BOOKS THAT YOU NEED TO READ BY THE END OF THE YEAR?

This is just the tip of the iceberg really.
I loved Tweet Cute and I cannot WAIT for the second American Royals book!!!

Wasn’t it so good!? I really wasn’t expecting to love it as much as I did. I am literally freaking out about AR2. I finished the first book and wanted to throw it across the room because I couldn’t know what was going to happen next for so long! hahaha
