Secrets and lies: a book set in a sleepy small town

This place takes place in a quiet, small town in Pennsylvania and what happens when a girl who got out returns.  It was a great story about family secrets, dynamics, and growth and I really loved it.

Salt and sand: a book with a beach-side community

In this trilogy, Belly returns to the beach house every summer with the same family friends.  It takes place in a small beach town and I love the atmosphere of this summer romance trilogy.

Here there be dragons: a book with a voyage on the high seas

This book is about a siren and a pirate prince.  Need I say more?

Tread lightly: a book set down a murky river or a jungle

I absolutely loved this book.  It takes place in the marshes of North Carolina and the setting is such a huge part of the story and Kya’s journey.

Frozen wastes: a book with a frost bitten atmosphere

This book takes place in the Russian wilderness in winter.  Just thinking about it makes me cold.

The boonies: a book with rough or isolated terrain

The setting of the Alaskan frontier in the 1970s might as well have been a character itself in this book.  It was so vivid and SO important to the plot and characters.

Hinterlands and cowboys: a book with a western-esque setting

This book had a surprise Western-Esque setting about halfway through the story.  It was an interesting turn of events, but I did enjoy the setting.

Look lively: a book set across sweeping desert sands

This book is so beautiful and inspiring and most of it is spent crossing the desert.

Wild and untamed: a book set the heart of the woods

A modern take on fairy tales, the forest plays a big part in this one.  It even becomes a special source of magic.

Wildest dreams: a whimsical book shrouded in magic

This world is beyond brilliant.  I think whimsical is the perfect word for it.

I tag The Book Lover’s Sanctuary, Just Me Mrs D, The Literary Counsellor, The Love of Books, and Words About Words.

  1. Ah I love to kill a kingdom! Such a good pick. I really wanna read where the crawdad sings at some point as well. And I liked the sound of great alone. And I adore bear and the nightingale! And completely agree with you about the world building in the carry on series!
