Reading In The Wings 
I loved the Gossip Girl TV show, but only ever read like two of the books and I never read PLL, just saw the show. I did enjoy Uglies, at least the first book, the rest went kind of downhill for me. I really enjoyed the Sisterhood and Princess Diaries books as a teen.
